The historical roots of Krásná Lípa reach all the way back to the Middle Ages. The first written mentions of the town date back to 1371, when the village was part of the Rumburk estate. Over the centuries, thanks to its unique location in a valley surrounded by sandstone rocks, Krásná Lípa became a prominent commercial and administrative hub for the region. In the 16th century, the town experienced a major boom, driven largely by the mining of tin and other minerals in the surrounding mountains. The rapid development of local crafts and trade transformed the town into a vital economic center. Many historic buildings were constructed during this era, some of which still shape the town's architecture today—including the Church of St. Mary Magdalene, one of the most significant historical monuments in the area. In 1731, Emperor Charles VI elevated the village to the status of a market town. During this period, the production and processing of textiles began to flourish. Krásná Lípa officially became a city in 1870, with further industrial growth sparked by the German entrepreneur Anton Friedrich. Later, a factory located near our hotel began producing nylon stockings—a major milestone in the town's modernization. Known as the Krásná Lípa Textile Factory, it was one of the first enterprises in Central Europe to focus on this type of production. During the Industrial Revolution in the 19th century, the construction of a railway connected Krásná Lípa with the outside world. This sparked a new wave of prosperity in transport and trade, establishing the town as a crucial node in the regional economy. Today, Krásná Lípa beautifully intertwines its rich history with the stunning nature of Bohemian-Saxon Switzerland, making it an attractive destination for both tourists and history enthusiasts. The traditional atmosphere and many preserved historic buildings continue to serve as a proud reminder of its colorful past.
Krásná Lípa is composed of several distinct parts, including Dlouhý Důl, Hely, Kamenná Horka, Krásný Buk, Kyjov, Sněžná, Vlčí Hora, and Zahrady.
The concept and design of the resort were born between 2009 and 2011. At the time of planning, this central part of the town was largely abandoned and run-down. However, thanks to the successful collaboration between public administration, a private investor, and visionary architects, the site is now home to a vibrant complex featuring a hotel, a guesthouse, and a hostel. The actual construction took place from 2011 to 2013, perfectly aligning with Krásná Lípa’s long-standing vision to establish itself as a recreational hub and the true "gateway" to both the Bohemian Switzerland National Park and the Lusatian Mountains. In 2013, the resort was proudly awarded the prestigious "Building of the Year" (Stavba roku) title for its unique architectural collection of accommodation buildings. Today, the complex is highly regarded not only for its modern architecture but also for its significant role in boosting tourism in the region. A specific part of the complex, today serving as the Hostel, was previously known as the Factory (Továrna) due to its industrial past. The careful revitalization of this historic structure breathed new life into the building, transforming it into a modern and comfortable place to stay. Beyond offering great accommodation for leisure tourists, the resort is also perfectly suited for corporate events and team building, as this section of the complex features versatile gathering spaces, a bowling alley, and a fitness center.
